How does the AI transcript editor work?
The tool transcribes your video or audio using Whisper AI, then splits the transcript into clickable words. Click any word to mark it deleted, then export a cleaned-up transcript (TXT) or caption file (SRT) with the deleted words removed.
Is my video or audio uploaded to a server?
No. Transcription runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly and transformers.js (the same on-device Whisper pipeline wavreel uses for captions). Your file is transcribed and edited on your device, nothing is ever uploaded to any server.
Which Whisper model does it use?
It uses the whisper-base model from HuggingFace via transformers.js, with WebGPU acceleration when available and an automatic WASM fallback. Word-level timestamps are interpolated from Whisper's sentence-level segments for click-to-delete editing.
Can it automatically remove filler words?
Yes. One click removes all common filler words (um, uh, like, you know, basically, etc.). A "Mark Long Pauses" tool also flags gaps of half a second or more in the transcript so you can spot them at a glance.
Does this tool actually cut my video file?
Not yet, it edits the transcript, not the underlying media file. Export the cleaned transcript as SRT captions or plain text, then use those timestamps as your cut list, or bring the original file into wavreel to build the final video.
